About

Having grown up in East Hampton, I was encouraged to create art by my teachers and influenced by a large community of local artists. I knew at a very young age that creating art as a lifestyle was my calling.

Throughout my high school and early college years, I experimented with abstract art, expressionism, impressionism, and sculpture, but found myself returning to where my passion is as a realist painter. I began painting in the “old master” style of painting, using thin transparent layers that ensure a sense of depth, light and clarity. I also utilize a traditional ground of wood panel, which enables me to direct my brush to fine detail, and also to hide my brushstrokes.

I returned to Long Island in 1996, after graduating from Long Island University and living in Massachusetts. It was then that I came to pair my love for the East End with my love for painting. I focused my energy and attention to painting the beautiful landscapes and farmland that are rapidly transforming due to real estate development.

With the East End as my muse, the unique light gives me consistent inspiration. It is my objective that the observer is sharing the moment when your breath is taken away by the dramatic beauty of the landscape, play of dancing light on the grass and clouds flowing softly over the horizon.
